The 40 days from Easter to the Ascension of our Lord must have been filled with joy for the disciples, for they had the resurrected Lord with them. He opened Scripture to them that everything in Scripture had to be fulfilled as it was in His death and resurrection for the salvation of the world. The Lord also promised them His Holy Spirit, the Comforter, who would remind them of everything He had taught them. After Jesus ascended into heaven the disciples waited the 10 days till the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in expectant joy. Then came Pentecost! (Pentecost means 50, for the 50 days between Easter and the Day of Pentecost.)
