We are blessed to have the LCMS materials available to us. It would be so wonderful if as staff and parents, we could live the four items below as an example to the children and then watch as the children imitate the attitudes and actions they see.
These past days we have been celebrating the birth of Christ in Bethlehem, and now we come to the season of Epiphany in the church year. In Matthew’s Gospel, we read that some time after the birth of Jesus, Magi from the east came to Bethlehem in search of the Christ child. When they found him they bowed down and worshipped him in joy and offered him their treasures of gold and incense and myrrh. Yet, the last words of this event are critical. We are told in Matt. 2:12, “And being warned in a dream not to return to Herod, they departed to their country by another way.”
The implication for us is that just as the wise men went home as changed people, so we are different too. As God has come to us in Christ, and we have responded in true praise and worship, then our path for this New Year will be different. As Paul writes in 2 Cor. 5:17, “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come!” We too will be traveling 2012 by “another route.”
What will be different?
1. Rather than going our own way, we will be traveling God’s way in 2012! His way is given to us in His
divine Word. Rather than depending on ourselves and what we will make of the New Year, we place
our confidence and trust solely in the merits of Jesus Christ, who died and rose for us.
2. Rather than focusing on what may be difficult and challenging times ahead, we trust God’s promise that He will be with us and that His grace will be sufficient for our every need.
3. Rather than looking inward toward our own material needs and wants, we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all the other things we think we need in life will be given unto us (Matt.6:33).
Rather than living for ourselves, we respond to God’s grace in Christ by serving Him and others. God led the Wise Men home by “another route.” In this new year, our Lord has called you and me by virtue of who we are in Christ Jesus to live a new life. By God’s grace, may we travel “another route” in 2012!

One part of our route for the coming year is to prepare our outdoor area to better allow both Trinity and Wee Disciples to utilize this area. We welcome all ideas.
We also welcome you to come enjoy time with the children and staff.
